Just released on Fuego and available through Amazon: a 3 song EP called River Of Light by Phil’s early 90s band, Spirithouse. Recorded at EMC studio in Camden Town London in 1992, and produced by Eddie Mander, the songs were recorded between Backwoods Crucifixion (1990) and God Is The Other Face Of The Devil (1993).
The title song “River Of Light” has never been released before, whereas the version of “Only You” included here is completely different to the version on God Is The Other Face Of The Devil. The third song, “Love Makes Her Shine”, later appeared on Golden Vanity by Phil Shoenfelt & Nikki Sudden, but the EP version is more like psychedelic pop than grunge.
In fact, the whole EP is something of a departure and doesn’t sound anything like what came before and after! Many thanks to Alan Sanford (guitar), Jim Clews (keyboards), Andy Morgan (bass), Kevin Barley (drums) and Sarah Panton (backing vocals).

Am 10. April 2020 erschien auf Fuego eine EP mit drei Songs von Phils früherer Band Spirithouse aus den 1990er Jahren: River Of Light. Die Songs wurden 1992 im EMC Studio in Camden Town, London, aufgenommen und von Eddie Mander produziert. Die Aufnahmen entstanden zwischen den Alben Backwoods Crucifixion (1990) und God Is The Other Face Of The Devil (1993).
Der Titelsong "River Of Light" wurde zuvor nicht veröffentlicht, während die Spirithouse-Version von "Only You" sich sehr von der Version auf dem 1993er Album unterscheidet. "Love Makes Her Shine" nahm Phil später ein weiteres Mal auf, diesmal mit Nikki Sudden, und erschien auf dem Album Golden Vanity.
Die gesamte EP ist als eine Art Aufbruch zu sehen und klingt weder nach dem was davor war noch was danach kam.
